Constitution & By-Laws



Article I


Name


A. Bonnie Brook Women’s Golf Association


Article II


Objectives


A. To promote and develop good sportsmanship in golf.

B. To give all possible support and encourage ladies to play golf.


Article III


Membership


A. Open to any lady interested in playing golf and furthering the objectives of the Association.

B. The Board of Directors shall determine membership limits, with priority given to previous members. For new members, a CDGA handicap index of 36.8or less is required. Players without an established handicap index must submit at least 5 qualifying 18-hole scores.

C. Dues shall be determined by the Board of Directors.


Article IV


Executive Board


A. The officers of this Association shall be:

  • Ringer Chair

B. Board of Directors-Qualifications/Limitations


1. No member of less than one year standing in eligible to serve on Board of Directors.

2. The nominee for Vice-President must have served one year on the Board of Directors before being nominated for the office of Vice-President. The Vice-President automatically becomes President after completing her two-year term.

3. The officers of this Association shall be elected for a term of two year not to exceed four consecutive years on any one position. Exception to this shall be for the Treasurer whom can serve a 3 year term.

4. The president shall appoint a replacement for any vacancy, which should occur on the Board of Directors.

5. In all meetings of the Board, eight (8) members shall constitute a quorum.


Article V


DUTIES OF OFFICERS, COMMITTEES AND REPRESENTATIVES


Section 1

Officers


1. President

A. Preside at all regular and special meetings of the Association.
B. Should appoint all committees, club representatives and alternates and be ex-official member of all committees.
C. Prepare and submit a financial budget to the Board.

2. Vice-President

A. To assume the duties of the president in her absence or at her request.
B. To serve as Chairman of Rules Committee.
C. To be responsible for buying prizes for Guest Day.
D. To be responsible for updating/printing of the Member’s Handbook.

3. Secretary

A. To report and keep all minutes and written reports of this Association.
B. To contact all board members in regard to regular meetings, to send out notices of any special meetings, and to be responsible for general correspondence.
C. To contact local newspapers prior to start of season and have them publish notice of the Opening Dinner and sign-up for new members.
D. To contact the local newspaper prior to Club Championship and arrange for publicity, or when appropriate to recognize any special accomplishments.
E. To send get well and/or condolence cards to members after being notified of the need.

4. Treasurer

A. Shall receive and be custodian of all monies, and shall pay out only as authorized by President.
B. Shall keep an up-to-date list of paid members and non-members (handicaps only.
C. Keep an itemized account of all receipts, and disbursements and present a report to the board at each meeting and to the membership at the closing dinner.
D. Arrange for an annual audit.

5. Events Chair and Co-Chair,

A. To be responsible for the setting up weekly events.
B. To appoint monthly tee time coordinators.
C. To post weekly event winners on bulletin board and prepare envelopes with monetary awards for distribution at the closing dinner.
D. To keep future events posted on bulletin board.
E. To keep track of overall low net score for the season and present award to the winner at the closing dinner.

6. Handicap Chair and Co-Chair

A. To maintain computer records and post bi-weekly handicaps on bulletin board.
B. Monitor scores being posted for correct posting, such as Tournament scores.
C. Determine most improved player (CDGA results) and present award at closing dinner.

7. Ringer Chair and Co-Chair

A. To regularly maintain ringer chart on computer and post on bulletin board, and to determine winners.
B. To maintain records for other all-season events as designated each year, i.e., putting, chip-ins, birdies and eagles award.
C. Prepare envelopes with monetary awards to be distributed at the closing dinner.

8. Social Chair and Co-Chair

A. Oversee Guest Day and Closing Dinner, Select committees to assist with functions.
B. Take care of posting notices two (2) weeks in advance.

9. Membership Chair and Co-Chair

A. Send membership form to prior members.
B. Advise new members of membership requirements and collect proof of eligibility as described in Article III.
C. Shall assist Treasurer in collecting dues.
D. To be responsible for list of phone numbers and addresses of all members, and shall prepare and distribute a phone list to all members.
E. Oversee Opening Dinner.

10. Intra-Club Chair and Co- Chair

A. Be responsible for Intra-Club Tournament (establish teams and assign tee times).
B. Prepare envelopes with monetary awards to be distributed at the closing dinner.

Section 2 Committees


1. Nominating Committee

A. Said committee shall present a slate to the membership at large at closing dinner for each office to be filled.
B. Consent to serve must be obtained from each candidate.
C. Prior to month of August, the president shall appoint to committee as follows: Immediate Past-President and two members at large.

2. Rules Committee

A. Shall consist of Vice-President and a minimum of two members appointed by the President.
B. They shall be responsible for interpreting USGA Rules of Golf in weekly tournament play as applied to this Association.

3. Social Committee

A. Shall work with the Social Chair in performing all the functions of that office.

4. All Committees shall be responsible for their own correspondence.

Section 3 Representatives and Alternates


A. To represent said Association to other clubs of associations as so required and take care of their own correspondence.
B. To attend all meetings and report to the President regarding the agenda of each meeting.
C. The alternate shall fulfill the representative’s duties in her absence.

Article VI


Inter-Suburban Golf League (IGL)

A. The BBWGA shall pay dues.
B. The team captain is obligated to explain to the membership what the requirement and rules are to be a member of the golf team.

Article VII


Robert Rules of Order

A. Roberts Rules of Order shall govern the proceedings at all the regular and special meetings of the Association.

Article VIII


The Government of the Association

A. The Government of this Association shall be vested in the Board of Directors.
B. The Board of Directors shall act as Finance Committee and control all expenditures and activities of this association.

Article IX


Quorum

A. A quorum for the transaction of business shall consist of sixty percent (60%) of members in good standing.

Article X


Constitution and by-law’s

A. This Constitution and By-Law may be amended by a quorum at any regular or special meeting of the membership.
B. Approved amendments become effective immediately.
